Covers other people’s bodily injury or property damage for which you are legally liable. The insurance company will settle of defend, as we (the insurance company) consider appropriate, any claim or suit asking for these damages.
It is mandatory in North Carolina to have minimum limits of $30,000 BI/person; $60,000 BI/accident and $25,000 PD/accident.
This means that if you are at fault in an accident the policy will indemnify up to $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident for medical expenses occured. $25,000 for property damage. However, if you are at fault for an accident and the medical bills from the injuries or property damage that you cause exceed your limits of liability, you are responsible for the remaining damage, which might put your personal assets at risk.
We recommend increasing your auto liability limits to protect your personal assets.
